Tel Aviv. The American and Israeli air strikes against Iranian relayed targets in Syria cannot be an indication to a full accordance between Washington and Jerusalem on the Iranian nuclear program.

Israeli sources say that while the air strikes are the result of common interest, they cannot be an indication on the US policy towards the Iranian nuclear program.
And in the meantime China is trying to play a greater role in the confrontation between the US and Iran.

Eyal Propper, a researcher in the Israeli institute for national security studies (INSS) writes in a paper published by the institute that in the coming months China will likely be more active as a partner, mainly behind the scenes, in contacts between Iran and the United States, with the aim of promoting a full return of all parties to the original JCPOA, with minor changes that may make the return politically easier for the parties.

In the Chinese view, Israel is perceived on this issue as part of the camp that continues to oppose an agreement with Iran, and China would not expect Israel to join or support such an initiative. Accordingly, China does not see a need to coordinate moves with Israel (unless it fears that Israel is close to using military force against Iran).

In view of the possibility that in the coming months there will be an increase in China’s involvement in the processes of promoting the United States’ return to the nuclear deal, Israel should closely monitor China’s diplomatic moves, coordinate its policies with the United States and Gulf states, and try to promote dialogue at the level of the Chinese leadership while strengthening direct contact with senior diplomats dealing with the Iranian issue.

This report and other indications about the Chinese growing involvement create concern in Jerusalem.

The Israelis have increased their intelligence efforts related to the Iranian nuclear program and Jerusalem’s position is firm – the Iranians are cheating the world and galloping to the bomb “with the intelligence we have it is so clear but some countries choose to close their eyes” as on, sources said.
