UP Defence Industrial Corridor: BrahMos Aerospace to Set up Rs 300 crore Facility in Lucknow

New Delhi: As part of its expansion plan, BrahMos Aerospace has proposed to set up a Rs 300 crore production facility in Lucknow for the BrahMos Next Generation (BrahMos-NG) Missile Project.

Sudhir K Mishra, CEO & MD, BrahMos Aerospace, leading a team met UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath on August 24 and apprised him of the plans, requesting a land parcel of 200 acre in the state’s capital. The civil construction for the production facility is expected to begin within three months of getting possession of the land.

 BrahMos Aerospace is a joint venture between the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Russia’s NPO Mashinostroyenia that produces the world’s fastest supersonic cruise missile- BrahMos.

 The project is expected to generate direct and indirect employment for more than 5,500 technical workers, as well as for more than 10,000 skilled, semi-skilled and non-skilled workers, said a release by the government.

Lucknow is one of the six nodes of the defence corridor in UP, others being Kanpur, Jhansi, Agra, Chitrakoot and Aligarh.
