Russian Aircraft Corporation MiG’s New On-board Systems to Enhance Capabilities of Latest Versions of Fighter Jets

Defence Industry

Begovoy, Moscow. Russian Aircraft Corporation MiG (part of the UAC) has patented a set of systems intended to enhance the capabilities of its latest MiG-35 and MiG-29M/M2 fighter jets.

According to the official information of MiG, the latest system has enabled to solve the problem of oscillations during the ‘manual’ control of the aircraft in the modes of vigorous maneuvering. These oscillations lead to instability in aircraft control systems and provoke emergency situations. MiG stresses that the patented nonlinear corrector system improves flight safety and reduces the workload of the pilot in the cockpit.

Earlier this month, MiG announced introduction of an advanced system for limiting the marginal flight envelope of an aircraft. The first of its component allows the pilot to remain within the permissible angles of attack with any action of the control stick, excluding the aircraft getting into a spin. The other component is to preserve the maximum permissible overload of an aircraft when maneuvering in all planes. According to the company, the system is qualitatively different from analogues and can significantly improve flight safety.

These are the latest developments introduced by MiG to beef up the combat capacity of its fighter jets. In 2020, the corporation announced receiving the patent for the landing approach automatic control system and a patent for the intelligent system for protection against surpassing critical g-loads.

MiG-29M/M2 and MiG-35 are the latest developments in the MiG-29 fighter jet family with tactical radius, thrust-to-weight ratio, high maneuverability, payload weight and buddy refuel capabilities usually underlined as their crucial advantages. The open architecture of the MiG-29M/M2 and MiG-35 makes it possible to integrate the onboard systems chosen by the customer, including the aerial weapons.
