Passing Out Ceremony of Officer Trainees Held at Naval Base Kochi

KOCHI. In an impressive Ceremonial function held on board INS Tir and ICGS Sarathi, 155 Officer Trainees of the 93rd Integrated Officer Trainees’ Course passed out on June 8, 18. Rear Admiral RJ Nadkarni, VSM, Chief of Staff, Southern Naval Command was the chief guest for the ceremony who also awarded trophies to the meritorious officers.

The coveted ‘Chief of the Naval Staff Trophy’ and ‘Telescope’ for the Best ‘All Round Sea Trainee’ was awarded to Sub Lieutenant D Arun Kumar. Sub Lieutenant Rishav Saha received the ‘Binoculars’ for standing first in overall Order of Merit and Sub Lieutenant Mayank Kumar Kalier was awarded the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command Rolling Trophy for showing maximum progress in service subjects during the term. Assistant Commandant Suraj Rawat received the Director General Indian Coast Guard Trophy as the Best Coast Guard Sea Trainee, while Sub Lieutenant Kartikey Dubey was adjudged the Best Sportsman and awarded the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command Rolling Trophy.

The sea training of 24 weeks for this batch commenced on December 25, 17. During this period, the Sea Trainees were imparted instructions and hands on practical experience on Seamanship, General Navigation, Astro Navigation, Communications, Gunnery, Anti Submarine Warfare and Officer of the Watch / Officer of the Day duties. The Sea Trainees also got the opportunity to visit various ports on both the West and East Coast of India, as well as foreign ports in Indian Ocean countries, such as Port Victoria (Seychelles), Port Louis (Mauritius) and Dar-es-Salaam (Tanzania).

The officers will now join various frontline naval warships and Coast Guard patrol vessels on both Western and Eastern Sea board for further afloat training.

The First Training Squadron comprises Indian Naval Ships Tir, Sujata Shardul and Magar, Indian Coast Guard Ship Sarathi, as well as Sail Training Ships INS Tarangini and Sudarshini.
