Tel Aviv. Israel is continuing its campaign in an effort to foil the Iranian plan to equip the Hezbollah in Lebanon with accurate ground – ground rockets. On July 19 the Israeli air force attacked targets near the Syrian city of Aleppo. The official SANA news agency said that Syrian air defences had managed to intercept some of the weapon systems used by Israel. This is the traditional claim but experts say that it is not based on any solid proof.

According to the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights the Israeli strikes targeted weapons depots that belong to Iranian-backed militia operating the area. The group said the strikes were followed by loud explosions. The weapons depots were located inside Syrian military posts, the group said.

In recent years Israel has performed hundreds of air strikes as part of this ongoing campaign. Based on very accurate intelligence, the Israeli air force and other units destroy shipments of missiles and sub systems that are on their way the Hezbollah in Lebanon.
