Thimpu. India attaches the highest priority in expanding its unique ties of friendship and cooperation with Bhutan, said Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale in an official visit to Bhutan from November 18-20.

During the visit, the Foreign Secretary met Ambassador Sonam Tshong, Foreign Secretary of Bhutan. He called on Prime Minister of Bhutan Lyonchhen Dr. Lotay Tshering and Foreign Minister Lyonpo Dr. Tandi Dorji. Foreign Secretary had an audience with Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, the King of Bhutan and Jigme Singye Wangchuck, the Fourth King of Bhutan.

In his interactions, Foreign Secretary conveyed that India attaches the highest priority to further expanding its unique ties of friendship and cooperation with Bhutan, based on the priorities of the Royal Government of Bhutan.

The two sides discussed all aspects of bilateral relations, including high-level exchanges, economic and development co-operation, hydro-power co-operation, people to people ties, and commemorative activities being jointly organized in the Golden Jubilee year. The two sides also shared their views on regional matters and other issues of mutual interest.

The visit of Foreign Secretary is in keeping with the tradition of regular high-level exchanges between the two countries.
