In a First After Assuming Charge, Navy Chief Visits Southern Naval Command

Kochi. In a first after assuming charge of Navy Chief, Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Admiral Karambir Singh, PVSM, AVSM, ADC visited Kochi.

The Admiral arrived at naval air station INS Garuda by Indian Air Force aircraft at 11 am on July 5 and was received by Vice Admiral AK Chawla, AVSM, NM, VSM, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief (FOC-in-C), Southern Naval Command (SNC). The CNS was presented with a 50 men Guard of Honour on arrival.

Post lunch, the CNS was given an overview briefing on the SNC following which he visited the different training schools and other facilities at the Naval Base. The CNS also met and interacted with the defence civilians of SNC which was followed by an address to all officers in the evening. .

On July 6, the Admiral would be visiting INS Dronacharya (including the Naval Maritime Museum) at Fort Kochi. He would, during the day, also be shown various environmental and welfare initiatives being taken by INS Venduruthy besides addressing all the sailors of SNC at Kochi.

The CNS would be departing Kochi on July 6. This is his maiden visit to the Southern Naval Command (SNC), after taking over the helm of the Indian Navy on May 31.
