Goodwill Gesture from Indian Navy: INS Dronacharya Crew Visits Orphanage, Old Age Home to Mark Navy Week

Kochi: As part of Navy week celebrations of Southern Naval Command, inmates of ‘Good Hope’ old age home and children of ‘Ashwasa Bhawan’ Orphanage were visited by personnel of INS Dronacharya and Naval Wives Welfare Association (NWWA), Fort Kochi and various maintenance support was provided from December 1 to 5 as part of community outreach programme.

The Commanding officer Commodore SK Roy and president NWWA INS Dronacharya Anita Roy along with officers and NWWA members participated in the interactive session and handing over of gifts following all COVID protocol. The Old Age Home and Ashwasa Bhawan were presented with various utility items by team Dronacharya and NWWA.

Special emphasis was laid on providing medical aid items like airbed and food supplements to the inmates along with provision of utilities. Other services rendered by navy included repairs of playing equipment, study tables for children, cleaning & painting of common areas, periphery wall and main gate.

The Garden refurbishment, provisioning of shed and repairs to drainage system, flooring of rooms was also undertaken. As a culmination to this year’s Navy Week activities viz services at Good Hope and Ashwasa Bhawan, a lunch was provided to the institutions.
