Mumbai: As part of its vision to strengthen India’s indigenous space program, the business arm Godrej Aerospace of  Godrej & Boyce has since 1985 partnered with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and been a part of every other Indian space mission.

During the over  three decades of association with ISRO, Godrej Aerospace has been manufacturing complex systems such as the liquid propulsion engines for PSLV and GSLV rockets, thrusters for satellites, and antenna systems. It has also played an integral part in the prestigious Chandrayaan and Mangalyaan missions. Godrej & Boyce Manufacturing Limited  has been committed to the cause of indigenous manufacturing for India’s space programs which are key to propel India’s technological prowess.

The company, Godrej Aerospace, said it will continue to remain committed to the cause of indigenous manufacturing for India’s space programs.

It has built several of the components that were critical for the mission such as the liquid fuel engine used in the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV), precision components for the orbiter thruster as well as the ground system and onboard antennae.

The team working on Mangalyaan designed and fabricated components that took into account the unique parameters for space flight. Godrej Aerospace also built mission-critical items for this launch such as  the liquid engine used in the PSLV.

It partnered with ISRO for the launch of the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle-Mark III (GSLV-MkIII) carrying communication satellite GSAT-29. This was the heaviest satellite launched from India. Godrej Aerospace added another feather to its cap in space technology when it  participated in manufacture of Vikas engine for the core liquid stage and cryogenic fuel engine (CE20) for the cryogenic upper stage of the rocket, and thrusters for the satellite.

Godrej also partnered with ISRO for Chandrayaan-2, India’s second mission to the Moon.
