STATE CORPORATION ROSTEC has become the first Russian company to purchase an EOS M 400-4 system for industrial 3D printing of high-quality metal elements from the German technology supplier EOS. The new equipment will broaden the use of additive technologies in the Russian industry. The system installed in Rostec’s Center for Additive Technologies in Moscow will be used for the production of metal parts for the Corporation’s aviation cluster. It can be used for creating elements of gas turbines, hydraulic systems and other products for the aerospace industry.

“Industrial 3D printing is becoming one of the essential attributes of modern industry. We see great potential with this technology and are increasingly implementing it in our production practices. With EOS, we are cooperating with a trusted partner and an innovator for AM solutions to achieve this goal,” says the Industrial Director of Rostec’s aviation cluster Anatoliy Serdyukov.

The EOS M 400-4 offers a large building volume (400х400х400 mm) combined with four lasers, resulting in up to 4 times greater productivity. Rostec uses the system in combination with EOS Shared-Modules, a number of peripheral modules increasingly automating material supply as well as part flow.

EOS is the world’s leading technology supplier in the field of industrial 3D printing of metals and polymers. Rostec already uses several EOS machines, among which are the EOS M 280 system for metal and the EOS P 760 system for polymer additive manufacturing.

“We look forward to continuing our long-term partnership with Rostec and hope to further expand it in the coming years. The Corporation is the technology leader in Russia and we are proud to fully support them with our industrial 3D printing solutions and expert consultancy,” says CEO of EOS Dr. Adrian Keppler.

One of the conditions of the partnership is the engagement between Rostec and Additive Minds, the EOS consulting unit. Its experts will train Rostec staff to work with the equipment and help the Corporation to implement additive technology in manufacturing new products.
